Sweet Little Something [production preview]

Most of today was consumed with shooting my latest video project. My lovely assistants and actors worked their butts off catering to my demands. In exchange, I fed them mashed potatoes and leeks. I am such an amazing director.

Add root veggies to your mashed taters, you'll LEEK it a lot.

I won't have the first edit done until some time tomorrow, but I have such great stuff to work with. ai-yiyi-yi-ya, so excited.

I'm even gonna throw in a doodle on top of all this craziness!

9 hours of forcing friends to help me with a class project and I managed to find time to sketch an homage to Jessica Fletcher, aka my Grandmother's favorite fictional character. Well, I had to make something for today, although the cake counts too.

In extremely obvious news today is Halloween and here are the reasons why it's my most favoritest holiday.

My friend Amber and I shoved some kids out of the way to get in this pic.

My carvings were a bit abstract in theme - I did post-'punk'ins; a Siouxsie Sioux, a Clash London Calling silhouette, and a teeny one wearing a homemade Devo hat. Unfortunately,  I didn't snap a pic of them in time and they collapsed in on themselves (insert reference about post-punk's demise).

But here's a short I shot and edited for my documentary workshop. It's got some nice pumpkin imagery if you're into that type of thing.

Last year I wore full makeup and went for a bit intense and scary full makeup look;

Such a fun cheap costume - I made the hat from some posterboard, and the beard from a wig purchased at Goodwill.

TRICKS N TREETS

For the second year I'm attending the 'Dead Rocker's Show' at East End. Although the weekend was a blast, the best spooky times are to be had tonight. The 'surprise' guest is coincidentally the man responsible for the music in the above video...

You'll have to come to East End or watch to figure out who the surprise guest is.

As far as treats go, I am sorely tempted to whip up a diabetic coma in a glass ala Sandra Lee:

Halloween is the beginning of the end. The Christmas decorations are already up in stores, and the weather is turning. I love this holiday. I don't want it or this amazing year to end. I just want to eat mini-Almond Joys and wear crazy fake eyelashes for a week or two before Thanksgiving break.

So the day has arrived when 'future' episodes of the Simpsons are supposed to have occurred. Next thing you know it will be 2015 and where's our flying skateboards Marty?

In honor of this auspicious occasion here is a list of my top ten favorite episodes of the Simpsons. All eps are from the 'golden age' (seasons 1-10). I tried not to make obvious picks, you'll notice 'Mr. Plow' and 'King-Size Homer' are absent from the list despite the classic nature of such episodes... So here goes...

This is everything that I love about Simpsons. Funny and heartfelt while not being saccharine. I couldnt find any clips from the episode but here's Homer's list of things to do in his last 24 hours-

Here's a few bonus clips - from Season 6, episode 2 "Lisa's Rival." Probably the best side storyline ever, Homer and his Sugar.
