Day 29: Xmas List

"All right Santa, down on the ground.

Mainly just want manuals and books. And $1,000,000,000. And ∞ more wishes.

Giving everybody cookies this year so you've been warned.

My cookies will not look nearly as beautiful as these from [Glorious Treats].
(If I really like you, you'll probably get a book from Powell's that I've already read.)

day 28: FunnyBunnyFrequency #3

click to listen.
We recommend listening to FBF#3 in front of the fire with a belt of scotch. Funny Fall has been aged 25 years and features golden jangles and gems, with a little kick in the back of your throat. Fall back and enjoy.
Feedback and comments very much appreciated :)

Day 25: Thankful for...

Family - Daddums, Mummy, sissys, brother-boo, Davey and the rest. Some years we add a few cute nuggets to the family and some years we lose those who helped raise us. This year was a bit of each, and every minute of days like today (even though I'm without my fam) I spend thinking about the love that I am so lucky to live with.

I also like to eat.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Day 19: Planning Ahead

So my one of my best gal pal's in the world is getting married next fall and wants to go to Vegas for her bachelorette girl's trip.

Damn, sparkles.
Since she isn't having a big wedding (smart girl), I will most likely not attend (it's out of state). So, despite my lack of enthusiasm for Las Vegas I will probably go. After a day or two of spas and clubbing, I'm going to sneak off to the desert in my new tent and camp.

Nevada is a beautiful state, no? Looking forward to experiencing the lack of sparkle and emulating Jim Morrison (haha, but seriously).
Interested?

Day 17: My thoughts on falling. OR if you disagree with me you're a pussy.

BEFORE YOU READ::
fully understand and appreciate the unique crazy interesting sarcastic obtuse humble individual that i am.

It hurts.
Scars. Bumps. Bruises Breaks.
Hurts. Heals?

Before it begins, i have to be a whole person. Fully healed and healthy.
I am happy with life and reflect that joy unto others.

On the most esoteric level, I can't reveal what I want from falling. You only know in that moment before.
Before you know you're falling into something that doesn't exist.
Before you know you're falling into something complex.
Before you know you're falling into something exciting.
Before you know you're falling into something you've always wanted.
Before you know you're falling into something comfortable.
Before you know you're falling into something...
Before you know you're falling into.
Before you know you're falling.
Before you know you're.
Before you know.

But bruises heal. Scars imprint stories and leave reminders for our psyche. "The pain might just be worth the fall," they tell themselves.

I'm not a skeptic. I'm willing to search for it, but not spend my life in pursuit. I've fallen before.

I believe in passion and recognizing falling and falling deeply and I believe in failing and willingness to fail again.

We remember how much it hurt but we fall again.

Day 15: Making connections

Confession: I created an online dating profile. GAH am I really so predictable?

But it's actually been fun creating the profile. Mainly because I love #1-Myself and #2-Writing about Myself.

It's also got me thinking about what I am looking for in a man. So here are seven of my fantasy boyfriends. I call them the Sept-fecta if you will.

My dream man has the confidence of Stroker Ace, the endurance of Wim Hof, and an air of mystery and danger similar to Banksy.

He also possesses the creative sexiness of Emil Kozak, is as affectionate as Teddy Ruxpin, can cook like Jamie Oliver and will someday be as grumpily-endearing as Walter Matthau.

I would love to meet a dream man. But I'm happy just laughing at the cheese balls who send messages in the meantime.

Day 14: Camping Lust & Communion with Nature.

I love the transition from Fall to Winter in the PacNW. The midwest is it's own kind of beautiful, but the weather out here is much better for camping during the eleventh month.

Coolest tent ever? Check out more here.

A close friend who is unfortunately leaving the state soon and I might go down to the redwoods on a budget camping excursion over Thanksgiving... Don't be too jealous, we don't have the tent yet.

day 11: Music I have been avoiding

It's a magical date that's written the same on the both sides of the Atlantic. Today, I've been sort of working on a new podcast. Guess what will not be playing with the rest of my fall jams.

Sweet Little Something [production preview]

Most of today was consumed with shooting my latest video project. My lovely assistants and actors worked their butts off catering to my demands. In exchange, I fed them mashed potatoes and leeks. I am such an amazing director.

Add root veggies to your mashed taters, you'll LEEK it a lot.

I won't have the first edit done until some time tomorrow, but I have such great stuff to work with. ai-yiyi-yi-ya, so excited.

A tasty treat from the 'set.' Can you tell which one is storebought?

I'm even gonna throw in a doodle on top of all this craziness!

9 hours of forcing friends to help me with a class project and I managed to find time to sketch an homage to Jessica Fletcher, aka my Grandmother's favorite fictional character. Well, I had to make something for today, although the cake counts too.

off to my editing cave! xxoo

Day 4 - 7 : Making. Thinking. Repairing. Preparing.

Day 4: Hangman Friends
I visited a sweet little speakeasy Friday located in Portland's NE side. The spot has yummy home-brews, a homey environment and good conversation. I brought my sketchbook and doodled - I even made some new friends by stumping them at hangman!

Day 5: Tube Insertion
My rear tire needed a replacement tube and I did it ALL by myself. [Well YouTube and friends helped a little.] This marks the first time I have had a bike repair that I haven't had to pay for. And we did it all without any 'fancy' tools.

Day 6: Graphics Project
I was able to brainstorm for my video project AND finish a graphics request for a client.

Day 7: Storyboard
So happy to have completed this. We shoot tomorrow and I am really excited to have a working storyboard for my volunteer actors and photographers. It should improve editing and streamline the shooting process. Not to say I won't improvise, I just have specific ideas more refined.

Kay, up next is shooting my project and editing / uploading / sharing / living / loving... go team.

Fashion hurts

When it comes to the complex world of 'fashion' blogging there are things I don't understand. Usually I just sigh enviously while scrolling through others lookbooks wondering why I am the only person in the world who doesn't own a pair of JC's Lita shoes, or why there's no one who wants to take 1,000,000 pictures of me coquettishly standing in an alley somewhere.

Then every once in awhile I find something like this -
oooh girl, work that haystack.
BWHAHAHA... I don't get it! Is this fashion? For every chic fashionista out there, there's someone who just buys the expensive clothes that are on trend this season so that they can take photos next to a haystack in an outfit you would probably never wear in a field. I mean, I get it, girl saw a pretty field, she was dressed in fave urban outfitters crochet vest, so she takes some 'not-looking-into-the-camera' photos.

Disclaimer: I've definitely posted a few times about seasonal trends I like and my thrift scores. I don't think I'm quite at this level yet though.

Day 2: Rules&Lines

Today's doodle is a bit of southwest inspiration. I am a bit out of practice, so I decided to do some line work. At one point I couldn't find the ruler, don't look too closely or you'll know exactly when.

11.2.11
Tomorrow I plan on completing a storyboard for a class project. See you then!

new look

I think I've finally stumbled upon a look I like for this blog. Please let me know if you can't view the scrolling image marquee at the top, or if the images don't change when you move your mouse over them.

It's been sooooo long since I've updated. I may go back and add a few post-dated entries just to fill in the gaps. The biggest things lately?

-traveled to Spain & Portugal
-returned to PDX
-film classes at Portland State
-new apartment / roommates
-officially a quarter-century old

Whew. All that, plus about a 1000 smaller things I should have updated on (for example, I have bangs now.)

In the spirit of playing catch-up I am going to TRY and post once a day this month - sharing something I've made or accomplished everyday. At the end of the month I'll have posted a daily doodle, short film, redesigned piece of clothing, etc, just as long as there are 30 posts in all. Doesn't sound too tough, huh?

So what did I make today? Well it's this site, and the work I put in revamping it, choosing and editing pictures and testing out the design code. Feedback is always appreciated and remember the compliment sandwich... critiques between two nice comments :)
